Meet Dr. Mascherin Dr. Mascherin grew up in New Jersey. She graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. While earning her undergraduate degree she was awarded membership in Rho Chi for academic excellence as a pharmacy major. After practicing pharmacy for 3 years, she continued her education at UNC-CH and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1985. The University of North Carolina Dental School is consistently ranked among the top in the nation. Dr. Mascherin established her dental practice in Cary, North Carolina in 1986. She is a licensed pharmacist in the state of North Carolina. |

Dr. Mascherin is actively involved with the Wake County Dental Society and the American Dental Association. She is a member of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity and served 2 terms as chapter president. She is involved in the mentoring program of the UNC Alumni Association. This program is designed to help college students who are interested in dentistry. She has sponsored students from the Medical Science Academy at Athens Drive High School. Dr. Mascherin is committed to continuing education and is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. She has had extensive continuing education in cosmetic dentistry, implants, occlusion, comprehensive restorative care (crowns, bridges and dentures), gum therapy, surgery and root canal therapy. Dr. Mascherin is certified to provide oral sedation for her patients. She is a graduate of the Misch Institute of Implantology in Detroit, Michigan. She is a member and fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Mascherin is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In her free time, Dr. Mascherin is a singer and soloist with the North Carolina Master Chorale. She lives in Cary with her husband, her son Alex and her daughter Ava. |

Emily (Dental Intern) Emily grew up in Wilmington, NC and graduated summa cum laude from Meredith College in May of 2009. During her years at Meredith she earned a B.S. in Biology and majored in Psychology. She joined Dr. Mascherin’s team as an intern in June of 2009. Emily has plans to enter the Physician Assistant program at Duke University within the next few years. She aspires to open her own practice in family medicine. |

Jeremy (Dental Intern) Jeremy grew up in Hickory, NC and is a 2009 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel H ill. He earned a B.S. degree in Biology with a second major of Exercise and Sport Science. Jeremy competed on the UNC Varsity Track and Field and Cross Country teams during that time. Jeremy joined Dr. Mascherin’s team in July of 2009 and aspires to become a dentist. |

Alex (Graduated Dental Intern) Alex grew up in Lexington, NC and is a graduate of N.C. State University. During his time there he earned a B.S. in Zoology and a Masters in Physiology. Alex is an aspiring dentist who joined Dr. Mascherin’s team in October of 2007 as a clinical and administrative assistant. He is recently married and living in Durham. Alex entered UNC-CH School of Dentistry in August of 2009. |

Octavio
(Graduated Dental Intern)
Octavio Rodriguez is originally from Guanajuato, Mexico. He grew up in Hendersonville, NC, and graduated from NC State University in May 2008. He graduated with a B.S. in Biology and Spanish literature and participated in the CALS Honors program as well as the University Scholars Program. Octavio is an aspiring dentist who joined Dr. Mascherin’s team in May of 2008 as a clinical and administrative assistant. He is bilingual and can speak Spanish fluently but loves to learn other languages such as German, Italian and French. Octavio has participated in various dental programs at UNC Chapel Hill and West Virginia School of Dentistry. Octavio entered UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in August of 2009. |

Meshia (Graduated Dental Intern) Meshia is originally from Winston-Salem, NC, but relocated to the triangle area to attend North Carolina State University. She graduated in 2004 with a B.S. in Microbiology and a minor in Africana Studies. Meshia worked with our team as an administrative and clinical assistant for 4 years, and has entered Life University in Atlanta, GA to pursue a career in chiropractic medicine. We miss Meshia and wish her the best! |

Miguel (Graduated Dental Intern) Miquel grew up in Cary, NC and is a 2002 graduate of North Carolina State University. After completing a 2 year internship with us, Miguel entered UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 2004 and completed his degree in the spring of 2008. We wish Dr. Miguel the best as he embarks on a career in dentistry. We congratulate him and his wife on the birth of their daughter!
