Dr. Mascherin is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists

What exactly does that mean, and what are the AGD and ICOI? The AGD is an organization of general dentists who are dedicated to professional development and continuing education. All AGD members must remain current with advances in the profession to provide quality patient care. To achieve Fellowship status in the Academy a doctor must complete a total of 500 hours of continuing education in all the dental specialties and must successfully pass a full day examination. A general dentist who is a “Fellow” in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) has been recognized by other general dentists as a leader and living testimony of the importance of quality continuing dental education for optimal patient care. Having earned her fellowship in
2002, Dr. Mascherin is now taking courses to achieve Mastership status with the AGD. A general dentist who has earned the designation “Master” of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) has completed a structured and rigorous set of requirements involving all the dental disciplines. Fellows and Masters of the Academy of General Dentistry follow a lifelong pursuit of continuing education to provide the highest quality of dental care. They serve as mentors to other dentists, and set examples in their communities with their hard work, concern and involvement.

In 2005 Dr. Mascherin earned her Fellowship award from The International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), an organization devoted to sharing the most current research and education in the specialty of dental implants. The ICOI is not only the world’s largest dental implant organization, but it is also the world’s largest provider of continuing dental implant education.

The ICOI is an association of general dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, prosthodontists, endodontists, orthodontists, laboratory technicians, industry representatives, researchers, faculty members and pre and post doctoral graduate students.

Fellows and Masters of the ICOI have pursued voluntary programs that evaluate and examine their knowledge of implant dentistry by experts in the field. They have accepted a lifelong commitment to learning as well as to promoting ICOI's renowned international camaraderie. As with the AGD, Dr. Mascherin continues to attend continuing education classes to achieve Mastership with the ICOI.

Dr. Mascherin Begins Advanced Training Continuum
at the Las Vegas Institute!

Dr. Mascherin has begun a series of advanced restorative courses at the esteemed Las Vegas Institute.  The Las Vegas Institute specializes in advanced cosmetic dentistry and prosthetics, preparing dentists to reconstruct the entire mouth using the latest materials available in dentistry.  LVI's teachings focus on placement of the most modern cosmetic porcelain restorations, assuring that patients achieve maximum comfort and function in the process.  The training at LVI is based on the principles of Neuromuscular Dentistry.  This discipline involves finding the position at which the muscles are relaxed and at rest, then reconstructing the patient's restorations to this proper position.  An incorrect bite, with resulting tension and spasm of the muscles, can result in headaches, muscle and joint pain, neck and shoulder pain and a variety of other maladies.  The Las Vegas Institute teaches advanced cosmetic and reconstructive courses designed to give patients the perfect smile.  We appreciate Dr. Mascherin's continued dedication to life-long learning, and her desire to provide excellent quality care and service to our patients.
